To ensure practical impact beyond the project consortium, MEDIGREEN actively engages the Mediterranean Maritime Spatial Planning Community of Practice (MED-MSP-CoP) through Task 3.3 of its Grant Agreement. This task is designed to foster a bi-directional exchange: on the one hand, it contributes to strengthening the MED-MSP-CoP in alignment with the mandate and objectives outlined in its Terms of Reference and Action Plan—particularly by facilitating a cross-border dialogue among MSP experts on integrating European Green Deal (EGD) elements into marine planning and management. On the other hand, involving the MED-MSP-CoP creates opportunities to disseminate, share, and discuss MEDIGREEN’s findings with Mediterranean countries not directly participating in the project. This broader outreach enhances the relevance and added value of the consortium’s work.
In this framework, MEDIGREEN leverages the MED-MSP-CoP as a key platform to support several core activities:
Technical development: Gathering input and feedback from CoP members to inform the project’s technical studies on offshore renewable energy, aquaculture, sustainable fisheries, and nature protection within WP3.
Participatory processes: Organizing dedicated workshops and consultations that promote collaborative dialogue on the role of Maritime Spatial Planning in achieving EGD objectives.
Cross-border cooperation: Strengthening cooperation between EU and non-EU Mediterranean countries by facilitating the exchange of experiences, challenges, and solutions.
Knowledge capitalization: Collecting lessons learned and best practices through the CoP to shape evidence-based policy recommendations and foster a shared Mediterranean approach towards a greener maritime future.
