On 17 September, MEDIGREEN took part in Coastal Week in Izola, Slovenia, with a dedicated side event that offered an important opportunity to exchange experiences, present project results and strengthen connections with the EUSAIR community.
The event followed the morning plenary session, during which MEDIGREEN experts contributed to the thematic working tables, fostering dialogue with participants from across the EUSAIR community. The afternoon side event then provided a dedicated space to introduce the MEDIGREEN project and discuss some of its key results and areas of work.
Presentations focused in particular on the project’s National Actions, its communication activities, and the work carried out to explore and communicate the non-economic values associated with maritime sectors. The session also provided an opportunity to present the ongoing efforts of the Mediterranean Maritime Spatial Planning Community of Practice (MED-MSP-CoP) and to invite members of the EUSAIR community to engage with and contribute to this growing network.
The discussion with participants proved particularly valuable. Feedback and exchanges highlighted the importance of maintaining spaces for dialogue between projects, institutions, practitioners and regional communities in order to address shared challenges and advance together towards a greener and more sustainable sea.
As Slovenian experts also emphasised during the discussion, this transition is not always straightforward. Progress can involve setbacks and changing conditions, but the long-term objectives remain clear. Continuing to share experiences, lessons learned and possible solutions across borders is therefore essential to turning common ambitions into coordinated action.
The Izola meeting was another useful step along this path, reinforcing the value of cooperation between MEDIGREEN, the MED-MSP-CoP and the wider EUSAIR community.
